Shri M. Parshad is a Chartered Accountant by profession, with an impressive academic record. He is an alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi.
Shri Parshad started his career in the general insurance industry in 1977 by joining Oriental Insurance Company Limited as Assistant Administrative Officer, and has subsequently held different positions at various levels, with diverse profiles, within the country as well as abroad. In February 2004, he was appointed as Chief Executive, General Insurers' (Public Sector) Association of India, to coordinate amongst four general insurance companies, evolve common strategies/policy on matters of common interest and liaison with the Ministry of Finance and other Government agencies.
Shri Parshad was the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) from January 1, 2006 to November 30, 2011.
He brought to the Company his vast experience from the fields of Credit Insurance, Business Development, Technical, Personnel & Industrial Relations, besides his own field of Accountancy.
Shri Parshad in his various roles and responsibilities had been widely seen as a 'natural leader', known for pursuing financial discipline in the organization, adhering to the government and regulatory directives, and building organizational competence through his vision and dynamism. Mr. Parshad had a deep commitment towards the agricultural community, and had successfully led the efforts of the Company in providing insurance-based risk management solutions through affordable farmers-friendly products, and reaching them to the remotest and poorest farmer.
